Crochet Thingy Pattern

Chain 6 join
Double crochet into each stitch through the back loop. This gives that raised line in the center. 2 rounds
DC , 1 chain , DC, still in back loop. 1 round
At this point I started to go through the whole stitch ( not just back loop )
DC into the stitch of the last rounds DC ( skipping the chain stitch ) adding another chain between DC’s for every round you do. So this round would be DC 1 CH 1, next round DC 1, CH 2 and so on. Always double crocheting into the DC in the round before, until you get the size you want. After your last DC, chain as many as the round you were doing and bind off.
I made sure to keep my stitches loose, and kind of flattened them as I went.

I thought as long as I have this all typed out ( takes me forever to type ) I might as well post it in case someone else likes it. Thank you Dottie : )

Chest Cover Bathing Cloths

Sometimes the simplest patterns can make life a little nicer. This is one of the simplest cloths your bound to come across, but if you have a water saving tub ( very small ) and still like to soak this just might be the cloth for you.

Chest Cover Bathing Cloths
9 ½” by 16” with trim
78 yards worsted weight cotton ( main color )
28 yards worsted weight cotton ( trim ) 106 yards together

Size 10 US needles
Size I US crochet hook
4 sts. by 6 rows to one inch

Straight stitch = Knit one row, purl the next continue in this manner.

DC = double crochet

Straight stitch for 80 rows, or to fit your size, bind off.

Trim is optional, I added a double crochet stitch in every stitch along edges ( 3 in corner stitches ) This will give you a slight ripple while adding enough weight to help hold in place while in water. It also works with the straight stitches natural tendency to curly inward, which really makes this cloth work so well for covering one chest while soaking.

Space Shuttle

Today as I was watering the front part of our garden plants, this flew by.

DS#1 was able to get this shot as it was going over head the second time, on it's way back from a fly over of NASA. It was much closer looking in person, the pole is only a few feet away.
We were so lucky to have seen it at all. : )

Crazy Day

I've had some crazy days before but yesterday is going to stand out for some time. It all started when I went out to water the garden by the big dog kennel. I always water the "girls", give them doggie bones and turn on their mist hose. Yesterday there was a dead bird in one of their water dishes!!! They have caught birds in the past, but not for quite some time as they are starting to get up there in age ( 13 ). Why in the water dish???

Okay so that was a lot of fun, or at least it seemed to make their day. So off to the dentist we go.
We pick up the mail on the way. I had ordered a Harmony stitch guide to replace the one I got some time back, that smelled so strong I can't use it without holding my breath

thinking all was good we opened it on the way. OHG the smell was so strong I had to open the window. Way stronger then the first one. What are the odds??!!......
I got them both used true, but from different sides of the country. Now I have two books I can't use. I tried everything I could think of on the first one, I even wiped down each page with a disinfectant while wearing a face mask. Cooked it in the trunk for a week. Put it in a bag with baking soda, charcoal you name it. I mean really the odds........

It was more then a hour wait at the dentist. The waiting rooms were full. I got to tell you after this I am so glad to have my guys. Not that the other peoples teenagers were...... I don't know how to finish this... they were just so very strange....... they were talking about how they sneak video of guys at school then share them....... okay that was unsettling but then, I kid you not they picked a scab off of one of the girls legs and started to play with it!!!! I can't shake this image from my head....at one point it flew across the room........the mother was right there.......
We always take our mp3 players with us. I made sure they both had a good charge... I forgot mine...It lasted about 3 words...so I got to hear the whole thing...............
I did get some knitting done, I started this the night before. I wanted to use up my end pieces of yarn. I also wanted a bag to not "worry" about ( that's a nice way of saying cheap )
It looks better in person ( sort of )

Crochet Thingy

Look I did it... I made this with a HOOK!!!
What it is??...........no clue
Haven't been at this long, can you tell ??
Okay so for a few years now I've been going at gardening in a very come as it may type way. Boy is really showing now....... last year I planted some already started chili plants. That went well. This year I got 4 already started ( good thing ) and tried seeds. Do you now how many weeds start out looking the SAME.... I for one had no clue.... see where this is going....yup I have to start over with the seeds ( the weeds were quite happy though ). Going to put them in a peet cup this time, at least I'll know somewhat where they are ; )

Hemp Magnet Wrist Band

Hemp Magnet Wrist Band ( Bracelet )

Magnetic beads should not be used or worn by anyone wearing a pacemaker or insulin pump, as well as pregnant women.

8 size 8mm magnet beads ( with hole for sewing )
6 ½ yards hemp yarn
Size 6 US needles
Sewing needle small enough to go through beads, thread
Snaps ( I used the 4 piece type )
8 inches long about 1 inch wide

Gauge 4 ½ sts by 8 rows
yo = yarn over the needle, making a new stitch.
k2tog = knit two stitches together.

Cast on 31 sts. loosely
Knit 2 rows.
K5, ( yo, k2tog, k1 )x 7, yo, k2tog, k3.
Knit 2 rows, bind off loosely. Weave in ends.
Add your snaps to the ends, I used the four piece set with a black pearl top. You can use the sew in type as well. I went with a good sized one ( 7/16” / 1.1 cm ) for ease of use and strength.
Sew in beads individually for strength and the elasticity of the band.

This pattern was made for my Dad, I made him a pair and they are holding up very well. I used allhemp from http://www.lanaknits.com/ in Licorice 029.

The rains are here

The rains have started. Now for someone with a garden around here that's both good and bad. No need to water anything that's true, but that means things you didn't water are growing as well !!! We have weeds spring up at a unbelievable rate.
With all the rain, flooding, lightening, and winds there hasn't been much working outside the past few days. We've been running out there every time we can, but you can just see them growing right were you just picked them. The rest of the garden is doing really well, even my herbs YAHOO I've wanted fresh herbs from my own garden as long as I can recall. And they are STILL ALIVE : )
Well in the mean time I've had more time to knit yippee. Like I wouldn't be anyhow ;) I do have a few patterns I'll be putting up soon.
