Ruffled Crochet Wrist Warmers

I didn't count gauge or yardage, as I was making these for me I wasn't thinking of writing up the pattern.. but I love them so much I thought I'd share anyway... I crochet on the loose side, the 16 foundation stitches fit my wrist ( just over 6 inches ) a bit loose... adjust the amount of chains to fit your wrist or the size needed.. I used less than half a skein of Icelandic Jewels ( bulky weight, 129 yards per skein ) now discontinued ( using up my older end pieces ) .. as far as bulky yarn goes it's on the lighter side

both warmers made the same
First chain 1 does not count as a stitch, make first stitch in the same space, joining with the first stitch not the chain 1 through out the pattern

ch = chain
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet

1 ) ch16 join with slip stitch
2 -5 ) ch1,  sc to end using the back loop only, join
6 ) ch1, sc twice in first stitch, sc to end of round, join
7)  ch1, sc twice in first two stitches, sc to end of round, join
8)  ch1, sc twice in first stitch, sc 2 stitches, sc twice in next stitch , sc to end of round, join
9 ) ch1, sc to end, join
10 ) ch3, skip 5 stitches, sc to end, join
11 ) ch1, sc 2 around ch2 stitches of previous row, sc to end, join
12 - 15 )  ch1, sc to end, join fasten off. ... I wanted the fingers covered a bit more.. check to make sure you like the length.

trim
using the chain foundation ( front loop ) ch2 in same space dc once, dc 2 in each stitch around join with the top of the ch2 stitches, fasten off. weave in all ends.

Super thick and easy fingerless gloves ( crochet )

I wanted a pair of supper thick fuzzy fingerless gloves to wear over thin gloves ( or alone )... the quicker the better... these only take a few minutes to make and are very warm, because they only cover the hand they are still easy to move in even though they are so thick... by adding or removing the number of dc's for the thumb gusset and rows before and after they are easy to adjust size...
I used two colors of Yarn Bee's Luscious ( bulky weight ) and one of Redheart's super savers ( worsted weight) I didn't count yardage but it didn't take much...

Medium ladies size

Make 2

Size N US hook ( didn't bother with gauge, adjust hook as needed )

using 3 strains of yarn through out ( 2 of bulky, one of worsted weight )

chain 16, join with a slip stitch

chain 2, double crochet 15, join with a slip stitch into top of chain 2

chain 2, double crochet 15, join with a slip stitch into top of chain 2

chain 2,  double crochet 4 times into the base of the chain 2 just made ( thumb gusset ), double crochet 15, join with a slip stitch into top of chain 2

chain 1, skip the 5 thumb gusset stitches, join in the next stitch with a slip stitch, chain 2, double crochet 14, decrease in next stitch with stitch over thumb gusset

chain 2, double crochet 15, join with slip stitch, fasten off, weave in ends.

Granny square crochet wrist warmers

One of the things I've always loved about crochet ( and a big reason why I wanted to learn ) is the wonderful granny square
My love of granny squares goes back to my grandma ..fitting right ;)... all the wonderful gifts and house hold items she made with them... from the beloved bag she made me in grade school to the warm afghans I'd wrap up in to listen to the radio on winter nights at their small farm.. one was always on the back of grandpa's rocking chair... grandma would be working on one of her crafts sitting in her rocker, letting me work with her never once telling me I wasn't doing it "right" I was free to do it any way my heart desired..at the time I would always pick sewing as the craft I wanted to work on... she put my first sewing kit together for me when I was 3, everything I needed tucked away in a small metal band aid box ( I've always had a love for metal boxes, tins, cookie containers...)

The very first thing I made in crochet was a granny square..
I'm working on a afghan of my own now..
last night after finishing up a pair of warmers a friend was kind enough to set up a few special orders for... I had just a bit of the teal color I was using... so granny square it was going to be...

 As I was working I was thinking how cold my hands were...the weather being much colder then I like it... so should I go get a pair from the other end of the house... getting colder on the way ( I also keep a wrap/afghan on the back of my rocking chair where I do my crafting ).. or just make another square and turn them into a pair without ever having to leave my warm cocoon... the yarn wasn't quite enough to make them the right size, as luck would have I had a bag of yarn right next to me.. the color worked nicely with the other, being the same weight and brand didn't hurt any.. to bring the squares to the 6 inches I wanted :D after adding double chochet stitches along the top and bottom of one side with a few single stitches in the middle for the thumb opening...think hour glass shape..

I just folded them and slip stitched them closed along the double stitches on top until I got to the thumb opening.. adding single stitches along the other edge I hadn't worked before to get to the second set of double stitches closing them with slip stitches as well.... warmers without every leaving the rocking chair lol

Wrist Warmers # 5

the hardest part of making these was
 getting a photo on the laptop alone lol

I really needed another pair of wrist warmers, while my fan lace wrist warmers are holding up great. I use them while doing chores outside often and miss them a lot while they are going through the wash lol
   I wanted to be able to move around and not get snagged up on everything, so on the snug side but comfy and fun.
I just put them together from bits of yarn I had around. I did not count yards....just grab any ends you want to use up.....
 I used medium to worsted weight yarns, starting with the thicker yarn at the cuffs...

easy flat knit hand warmers

It doesn't get much easier than this lol
Knit on two needles and seamed along side leaving an opening for thumb

this pattern is for a smaller sized hand, adjust size by adding more stitches and knit rows or going up in needle size and/or yarn thickness

I didn't count the amount of yarn I used I do know it was less than 50 yds for both easily.

gauge 6sts by 5 rows per one inch
size 9 US needles

cast on 25 sts. leave a tail for seaming

k = knit
p = purl
k2tog = knit 2 stitches together
straight stitch =  knit one row, purl the next continue in this manner

1-6 ) k1, p1 to end

7-20 ) straight stitch

21 ) k2tog, k10, k2tog, k11 ( this brings it just a bit smaller for top by fingers, this step is optional )

22- 24 ) straight stitch

25-29 ) k1, p1

bind off leaving 6 or so inches of yarn to seam top of warmer

I seamed just a bit more than the ribbing rows on both the top and bottom, I like a big thumb opening, adjust to your liking. Weave in ends.
