Spring time :D

I went to the feed store just to see what kind of chicks they had, I was in town and almost there anyhow so why not ;)
Well this little sweetie needed a home, they had no clue what breed she is, she came in with the Black Stars...she was just too pretty to leave there...
of course we didn't want her to be alone on the ride home so we got 4 Black Stars :)
they are so cool...brave little girls jumped right in the mix

This little one came with our last order of chicks, we have no clue what breed...just that she has fuzzy feet :D

We tried starting seeds in egg shells worked great, 2 days after starting they were big enough to plant outside :D

                                          Our asparagus is coming up
We didn't lose as many plants as we feared, it looks like just the rosemary....

growing fast

This is one of most curious chicks we have this batch, she loves to be held...but not so sure she likes the camera lol. She's a Rhode Island Red

This little one is the first to come over every time. This is a mix between Ameraucana rooster and Rhode Island Red hen.

Very friendly, sweet birdie....
even though bigger always nice to the other chicks. Not sure if we have a roo  or pullet yet.

Face shot of same chick, in the background there is a  Barred Rock pullet and the fuzzy toed bantam ( the black and white ones )...a production Red pullet and same Red pullet as the first shot on left....way in the back is another Ameraucana Red mix also not sure if boy or girl...

RT update

This is RT, she came to live with us in mid November, when she was found hurt by a friend. We have no clue what breed she maybe. All we know for sure is she is really good at hiding her eggs lol
She is doing good, but is very shy....really gets upset when we go near her mini coop, we haven't tried putting her in the main coop as of yet....we have been giving her time to get used to us and fill out a bit, grow her feathers back in....
She's been doing so much better, and her coop really needed a full out and out cleaning....
Jorden after crawling in her coop with her, found 16 eggs that she had been hiding in the small box we had moved her in with...she was so ticked off with him she forgot the be afraid of him... and now she is coming up near us to eat, not hiding every time she sees one of us, or the camera...that's how we got an almost clear shot of her :D

While we are not going to eat these eggs as we have no clue how old they are...you could not see them lol

Jorden has been making these from our coop for us :D  I miss them so much today...we are planning on hatching a few more chicks, and are saving a few days worth...

I needed a pair of socks.....
made from the yarn that was in that knitting bag when I picked it up lol

Wrist Warmers # 5

the hardest part of making these was
getting a photo on the laptop alone lol

I really needed another pair of wrist warmers, while my fan lace wrist warmers are holding up great. I use them while doing chores outside often and miss them a lot while they are going through the wash lol
I wanted to be able to move around and not get snagged up on everything, so on the snug side but comfy and fun.
I just put them together from bits of yarn I had around. I did not count yards....just grab any ends you want to use up.....
I used medium to worsted weight yarns, starting with the thicker yarn at the cuffs...

I love going out to the coop for fresh eggs everyday. Jorden went out the other day and came back with a few :D That wasn't all for the day, we hit a new high count for one day, 15 eggs from 16 hens....a lot of our girls are laying daily...
our baby chicks are doing great,

think we are going to try and hatch a few more

I would like to see a cross between a Rhode Island Red hen and an Ameraucana roo...and as he seems to be getting along with the girls....

The chicks we got in November are doing good
