9 inches by 9 inches
Exact gauge is not essential to this project
68 yards worsted cotton yarn
k = knit
lt = skip the first stitch on the left needle. Knit the second stitch through the back loop. Knit the first stitch, slide both stitches off left needle.
p = purl
rt = knit 2 stitches together leaving on left needle, going between those stitches, knit first stitch again
( )x = repeat directions inside brackets as many times as indicated
Cast on 38 stitches
1 - 6 ) knit
7 ) k4, p2, ( k2, p4 )x 4, k2, p2, k4
8 ) k5, ( lt, k4 )x 5, k3
9 ) k4, p2, ( k1, p1, k1, p3 )x 4, ( k1, p1 )x 2, k4
10 ) k6, ( lt, k4 )x 5, k2
11 ) k4, p3, k2, ( p4, k2 )x 4, p1, k4
12 ) knit
