Buttons

So I was on Ravelry the other day and saw a thread on "how do you start a button jar," just asking how you may have come about yours.
I must admit I have more than one jar, or can, or box etc. I didn't realize just how many I had. Now I didn't count each one, the number of jars, cans, boxes were enough to see I would never need to buy another one again ;)
I've had my own button jar for 40 years or so. It goes back to when my Grandma taught me to sew when I was 3 years old. Most of the "first" buttons were used making doll clothes, but have long since been replaced.
When my Grandmother could no longer sew, she gave me hers. Her crafting came out of need most of the time. With seven boys and little money, she saved everything she could, and made most everything else. Her jars held mostly work clothes buttons. Very useful.

My Great Grandmother on the other side, also kept buttons. While she had her fair share of "work" buttons, she had saved some of the coolest buttons too. I used to go through the as a small kid, so cool. I now own those buttons as well. She would make more art type things, pillows and the like.

Now what to do with some of these?????

I got these done a couple of weeks ago.

I used "I Love This Cotton." The feel is so soft, really like the colors, easy to work with unless you need to rip anything. Got stopped on the grafting of one of the toes and ripped a few stitches. The yarn started to come apart!! The socks feel great to wear, but the are not holding up well :(
I used part of a pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks "Yarn over Cable" Hard to see in the photo but I think they came out well enough.

update

The last time I posted anything about the "odd" things happening around here. I told you all about how I was going to email a web site on haunting and such.

Well I did. I gave them a very brief account of just the last few things to have happened.

They sent me a real nice email, giving me instructions on how to send it to the light. I got to thank them for trying.

I don't think this is a ghost but I didn't make myself very clear to them. I didn't want to. I needed to see what they would say for a simple matter. Then we could get into what I believe to be going on here.

I don't trust very many people or anything else for that matter. I'm more of the kind of person who needs proof.

The advise they gave was good, for most issues, I guess. I'm kind of torn on this one. Why would I want to force my will in such a manner on someone just trying to get through to me.

Anyhow that's not the case here. This thing for lack of better term, is trying it's best to cause chaos.

A day or so after I sent the email off I was sitting at my computer in my bedroom with my door closed.

I had just fed my little dog her fiber and was trying to keep Buffy ( medium dog ) out. I know I closed the door tight. Buffy had her treat but gave me a hard time leaving the room ( okay it was more a sad look and her head hung low ) I clearly remember doing it.

Anyhow the door was closed, I saw this haze and picked up on the smell that I now associate with this thing. My door opened just a bit at first, like it was making sure I saw it, then opened the rest of the way at a faster pace.

At this point the guys are still in one bedroom in the main body of the trailer. As my door opened I could hear nothing. A second later I heard a lot of movement, my first thought was Andre was cleaning, and knocked something over.

I saw the haze get thicker, and felt a rush of anger pushed at me, trying to get me to believe they were fighting.

Okay I got to say at this point I'm pretty much like bull cookies... up yours, but wanted to see if I was right, is this thing really trying to start fights. So I yelled for the boys to come out like I was mad. This thing got darker for a second.

They came out all upset thinking was I was really mad. I told them what had just happened and why I called them to come out. All this time I can see this haze, when the guys realized I was messing with this thing we couldn't laugh hard enough lol

It was like whoosh and it left. It is still trying it's best, but now that we know it's laughable.

Things are not quite normal yet, still picking up on that smell, not as often. Still see haze at times but can now laugh it off.

I don't want this thing hanging around just waiting for another "meal" so I was still seeking advice.

Wow I just love the way life's turns and twists brings you right where you need to be. After blogging about this I got an answer to my questions.

This weekend has been a wonderful renewal of my beliefs.

I have been so fortunate as to have a new really cool friend who is willing to help me out with this.

I have been blown away by her. She's been doing what is called Reiki, http://www.reiki.org/FAQ/WhatIsReiki.html Even gave me this link. ( need to know more about this )

We could feel the difference in the trailer right away. Much lighter, brighter even.

I have been most impressed by her insight, and willingness to help out a stranger. I truly mean really help out, like one of those life changing times.

For the first time in months I feel clear,..... I can "feel" again. I had been blocking so much to keep this thing at bay, everything I could even the good ( although they never turned away ). I was putting my Guides and Angels to test. They really came through for us.

My new friend :) told me to be on the look out for the Angels to pay me a visit. Sometimes you can tell by sight or smell. Said maybe sandalwood or roses. A while after reading her email I was still pouring over what to write...... "not" write is more like it. I took a break from everything and started thinking it over. I asked them to make it so clear I couldn't say it was anything else. I started doing some cleaning, with Jorden ( he helps me clean up quite a bit, I'm so lucky Knock, knock ), when we walked back into my bed/knitting/computer room my whole area was filled with the sent of sandalwood.... this could not be I don't have any in the house, but yet here it was and Jorden could smell it too. I hadn't told him about the email yet. Being me I went looking all around the place.

Nothing, until I got to the living room, what had been a rainy drab day, had just burst into a sunny warm day, like a flash. I stopped and stood for a moment it was a feeling of deep warmth, then it dawned on me I could feel that warmth through out the trailer. It was really cool. The whole place was so much lighter.

I believe I had Angels pay a visit soooo cool. Any doubt I may have still had was blown away with my friends next email. She spoke of all the things I had removed from my last email to her, wow

She did an Angel card reading for me. WOW this is just so cool :) I'll be emailing you on that soon. Thank you so much, you have brighten my life :)

Didn't get much knitting done but ... Life is Good

Haiti

I added a few of my patterns to the list on Ravelry to help the people of Haiti.
All profits of those patterns will go to the relief efforts.
While I believe this is a good thing, I had a hard time adding my patterns. I don't want to come off as trying to gain something from this.
I do this with only my very best wishes to those people in need.

Milk Scarf

Yarn made with milk. Cool

Really easy to work with. So soft and smooth.

Well from what I could tell from the few yards sample I got from Paradise Fibers ;)

Mom likes miniatures. Has a little store front "window", so now she has a scarf to display. lol

I also made a healing shawl out of a sample of corn yarn.
Not as easy to work with. It splits quite a bit, but worth the trouble. At least with something so small ;)
I was using needles with a nice pointy tip, using a different needle I'm sure would lessen this. It is very soft and thick.

Not the right size for the store, so it's mine :)
I've had these samples for months now, and needed a break from the tight knitting I've been working on. lol

The hat I'm still knitting for Andre's birthday ( this past Monday ) is coming along nicely. He's happy with it. The size is right, so now the brim.

The birthday socks I made for Brent

After all that with the yarn ( see last post for details ) it turns out I only needed 4 yards to finish one of the socks toes......

I had counted out the yards of the first skein to spilt it in half, or so I thought.

The first ball had the 125 yards I counted out. The second "half", 121 yards. Yeah that's right the very amount I needed. lol

I knew the second ball was short, but I had been planning on making the socks a little shorter
and thought for sure I had more of the yarn.
All is well that ends well, right? The toes match the sock. They fit him well. I have 246 yards of yarn to make him something else, and he like them. win, win :)

Birthday socks

Andre my oldest turns 17 on Monday. The day after that is my husbands birthday. Jorden my youngest turns 16 next month. So I've been working on Birthday gifts
Andre asked for a hat. Still working on that. Pattern to come soon.

I wasn't real happy with the hat I had made Brent for our anniversary. We both had really different ideas on what it should look like. As he was the one whose head it would be on, I did what he wanted. He wears it and likes it. Just not what I had in mind.
I wanted to make him some socks he could kick back in the evenings with. He works so hard for us. Right now on his first day off in almost two weeks, he is working on the boys bathroom. He's putting up new tile behind the sink area YIPPEE
Bulky, warm, nice to wear on a cool night, type socks. I went through my stash and came out with a skein of green camo worsted weight "I Love This Yarn". I had made a pair of socks for myself last year out of this brand of yarn and love them.
I thought for sure I had more of this yarn. Turns out it wasn't the same colorway. When do I find this out .............
yeah when I'm a few inches from the toes...... on both socks .
Didn't want to deal with sss you know ;) lol
I had this yarn for almost a year. I had picked it up on clearance. It was loosely wound into a skein, but the yarn looked fine.
So we went to Hobby Lobby where I got the yarn to begin with. I could not believe the color change from one dye lot to another.
I loved the look of the stuff I had at home really easy to work with, but this stuff was choppy and ruff, badly dyed. Way too big of a change in the yarn itself let alone the colorway.
I was going to give up on it and make the toes black or something, when I bent down to take another look as they were on the very bottom of the display ( I was pretty close to the display so others could get around me, maybe a foot or so ) I was there all of 2 minutes.
All of a sudden a stocker who had been working at the other end of the isle, is shoving a skein of yarn into the bin right in front of my face, she just missed me. I looked up, she gave me a "look" and said "oh I'm just putting the yarn out". When my own "look" followed that, she did say excuse me as she was turning her back to me.
You know up until that point I was getting ready to walk away, I decided to have a better look instead. So I sat down right there on the floor and pulled out everyone of the skeins in that colorway out to check their coloring and lot number. Partly because I had a few minutes to spare waiting for my kids and really was needing that yarn. Partly because this woman was so rude and clearly wanted me to leave. With almost no hope left for even a close match. I saw one more... the last skein...... all the way in back, I had to almost lie on the floor to get it.
IT WAS A MATCH right down to the loose wrap of the skein. WOO HOO
I was so happy after putting all the yarn back nicer than it had been ( used to do that for a living would never have left a mess, but she didn't know that ;) I thanked her for her help. The look she gave me... lol
What are the odds to find the same dye lot number almost a year later. They had to be just putting it to the back so as not to deal with the winding issue. They just moved the whole yarn area so it wasn't like it was there all that time. I have never been so happy for poor workers before, now back to knitting those socks.......

Time to stop this

I've been posting about some of the odd things that have been happening around here for sometime now.
Yesterday my father came over and said he saw that strange mass like thing in his place now. They live next door to us on the same property. There is a good deal of yard space but apparently not enough.
I posted about some of this on Ravelry asking if anyone had come across anything like this. The advice I got was to seek help.
After Dad came over and told me about how he had seen this thing too, he asked me to look into getting it out as well.
Okay I think we're going to have to take this a little more seriously.
I'm pretty sure we are not dealing with the ghost of a person, whatever this thing is, it really wants us to believe that it is though. It would seem to be trying to pose as different things to each of us.
As we started to put things together and compare what was going on with each other, things got stranger, more things would be moved, or just gone for days.
We started seeing the black grayish mass more often, and the smell that was in the trailer after these things would happen was getting stronger. We went around our house with sage and sea salt. Seemed to quiet things down, now we know it just went next door.
I'm going to email an online site that said it helps people with things like this. The problem with that is what do I write that will make this clear.
